Head of Mechanical Engineering
Mike leads the very talented Mechanical Engineering team in San Francisco. Mike is one of Synapse’s most experienced mechanical engineers with an extremely broad knowledge base of product development and manufacturing processes. Since graduating from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, he has worked at major companies such as Canon, Hewlett Packard, Alcon Labs, and the America’s Cup, resulting in over 30 years experience in developing products and devices in the consumer electronics, business, sports, fashion, and medical industries.
This broad range of experiences has resulted in Mike’s extensive knowledge of electronic packaging, micro fluidics, optics, motion control, and thermal management. As a result, Mike has expertise in designing for a wide variety of manufacturing processes including injection molding, metal stamping, metal injection molding, machining, composites, ceramics, and soft goods with production volumes ranging from 1 to 10,000 per day.
Joining Synapse in 2014, Mike has led, and been part of teams in the development of myriad products over a wide range of markets.
Mike is an inventor on 18 patents and four applications currently in process. Outside of work Mike is an avid sailor who has won multiple world champions.
